The piece is by Portuguese artist Artur Bordalo, aka Bordalo II, the latest in his series of “Trash Animals” that aim to draw attention to environmental issues. The work, depicting a giant squirrel made from waste,
highlights the plight of the red squirrel in Ireland. It’s the latest large-scale street artwork to appear, as if by magic, in the capital.
You can view the artwork for yourself if you walk towards tara train station. I think its pretty cool, as I infact stumbled over another one of Bordalo’s “Trash Animals” ( before I even knew of the artist and his plans for dublin city ) while on a short holiday to lisbon in Portugal which I had to get a photo of.
